Public libraries essential part of having an educated population

Public libraries funded by tax money are an essential part of having an educated and literate population. The councilman may have priorities which may preclude his being in favor of libraries such as an uninformed electorate able to be more easily misled. Circulating libraries such as the one in Hillsdale provide not only books and other materials for general entertainment but also reference and research materials of current topics of interest. Is there perhaps something in the research stacks that of any of the candidates might prefer to be kept unread. - Anonymous

  1. It is nice to have a library close by. The Library in Hillsdale could have been added on to.
The towns Hillsdale, Copake & Ancram want a library but not a rescue squard. The rescure squad is in real trouble. Hillsdale can have all the fun raiser for the library, but what about the rescue squad. Do you people realize that if your love one or a friend is hurt or in a life threatening situation, who are you going to call,
"The Library??" Hope not. If our Columbia Rescue closes down, You would have to call Claverack??
or who knows. People think about it........We need our rescue squad a lot more then a library.
Towns wake up and support the rescue squad before
it's to late. PLEASE do the right thing....
